Garden looking a bit dull over winter? Ok so the grass is so green, you could be forgiven for thinking that we were in Ireland! But what about some flowers?
This is the time of the year when you NEED some colour in the garden!
These are some of my favourite winter flowering plants – plant them out over spring to help brigthen up your garden next winter.
The purple flowering Happy Wanderer – Hardenbergia violacea, is an australian native, hardy, evergreen, climber that produces masses of purple flowers from winter through to spring. It loves full sun or semi shade, and of course something to climb on; like a trellis or arch way. You can also get pink and white flowering varieties.
The happy Jonquils – Narcissus tazetta, are sweet smelly, indestructible, white or yellow flowering bulbs. They love full sun and grow well in all areas of Australia except the tropics. They look fantastic planted under decidous trees or shrubs and most varieties flower from from winter through to spring.
